Advancing Health Equity
Through Community Power
We believe the future of health equity belongs in the hands of those who experience inequity firsthand.
Our Mission
TheCHANGEproject advances health equity by empowering community leaders—especially young people with lived experience—to design, test, and scale solutions that address the root causes of health disparities.
Through our programs, we provide funding, mentorship, and training to help emerging leaders build evidence-based interventions, shift harmful narratives, and influence policy at local, state, and national levels.
We believe that those closest to the problems are closest to the solutions—and we're committed to ensuring they have the resources and platform to create lasting change.

Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions about our mission, health equity, and how we work.
What is TheCHANGEproject's mission?
TheCHANGEproject's mission is to advance health equity through community power — putting the design of health solutions in the hands of the people who experience inequity firsthand, and building the leadership, media, and policy change needed to dismantle systemic health disparities.
What is health equity?
Health equity means everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible, which requires removing obstacles to health such as poverty, discrimination, and lack of access to good jobs, quality education, housing, safe environments, and health care. TheCHANGEproject works to dismantle the systemic barriers that create these disparities.
Who founded TheCHANGEproject and when?
TheCHANGEproject was founded in 2020 by William Navarrete Moreno. It is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 39-3751530) based in the United States.
How is TheCHANGEproject different from other health nonprofits?
Rather than delivering services to communities, TheCHANGEproject builds community power so that people with lived experience lead the work themselves. That means training young leaders, powering student chapters, telling authentic community stories, and shifting policy — an approach centered on "nothing about us, without us."
