Mirwais Anwar, MD
Emergency Medicine Resident at Yale

Board of Directors-Board Member

I’m Mirwais Anwar, an Emergency Medicine Resident at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Training at one of the nation’s busiest Level I trauma centers has given me invaluable experience with diverse patients and complex cases. My academic interests include Prehospital Emergency Medicine, Disaster Medicine, and Refugee Medicine, and I’m passionate about ensuring equitable healthcare for underserved communities.

During my time as an EMS Director in Massachusetts, I gained firsthand exposure to the public health challenges faced by vulnerable populations, from gaps in prehospital care to disparities in access to emergency services. These experiences sparked my passion for addressing systemic inequities and finding solutions to ensure high-quality care for everyone, regardless of their circumstances.

I earned my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England and a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Arabic Studies from Salem State University. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, discovering local eateries, and exploring Connecticut’s vibrant culture. My journey in medicine is driven by a commitment to advancing health equity and making a lasting impact.
